The 2014 Upper Five Tempranillo is a balanced wine that shows dark fruit as a backbone with contrasting acidity and dusty tannins that beg for paella and chorizo. The aromatics are, as usual, intoxicating with spice, coffee, and chocolate.
14 months in 1/3 new oak, both American and French.
2015 Sauvignon Blanc
Fermented in jacketed stainless for a lean, aromatic style. Lees stirring has fleshed out a savory mid-palate. Passion fruit, grapefruit, lemon verbena – think fresh shellfish.

Another ‘intentional’ rosé from Upper Five. 1.2 tons of grenache grapes were picked early to retain acidity and express the brambleberry nature of this grape. We fermented this rosé to dryness to highlight the balanced acidity and delicate fruits. Only 60 cases of this produced in 2016. Fermented in neutral oak barrels.

A muscular and intense Grenache with cassis and complex black pepper/spice notes. This wine is showing the age of the vines and the pedigree of selected clones from the Rhone. Three neutral barrels were chosen to fully express the complexity and power that Grenache can be.

Equal parts clone 174 and Noir, this Syrah is a complex combination of blueberry, white pepper, and bacon(Capital B!) with a lush mouthfeel that fills the palate with fruit.

2014 Oso Grande
Our first blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 20% Tempranillo. Bramble berry starts on the palate followed by a mouthful of fruit dominated by the Syrah. Finishing notes of spice and dark cherry are delivered by the Tempranillo. A beautiful wine showcasing the best of these three noble grapes.
2016 Sauvignon Blanc Acacia
Borrowing from a European method, we fermented a portion of our 2016 Sauvignon Blanc grapes in an Acacia wood puncheon. This very unique wine shows the aromatics of a ripe Sauvignon Blanc with notes of stone fruits and almonds. A pairing of a lightly smoked cheese or fish. Very limited !
